Worker Safety & Compliance Platform

AtSite is a social-impact digital product that reimagines worker safety for Western Australia’s mining sector. By swapping clipboards and manual check-ins for smart geofencing, the platform automates presence tracking, compliance reporting and emergency response while keeping worker privacy front and centre. Built at speed with low-code tools, it offers supervisors real-time insight into who is where, what tasks are underway and how quickly help can be dispatched—setting a new, humane standard for safety across vast, hazardous worksites.

PROBLEM

Mining operations sprawl over kilometres of rugged terrain, with hundreds of people constantly entering and exiting high-risk zones. New Work Health and Safety regulations now hold employers to stricter oversight—and levy hefty penalties when records fall short. Yet most sites were still leaning on paper logs, radio calls and scattered spreadsheets that slowed audits, left blind spots in emergency response and frustrated both crews and regulators. A solution had to be fast, reliable and trusted by workers before the next inspection cycle closed in.

solution implemetation

Mayfly Ventures partnered with the founding team to turn their vision of privacy-respectful geofencing into a working product at start-up speed. Workshops with site managers and drill-rig crews clarified must-haves: a hands-free check-in, a supervisor dashboard that surfaced only actionable data and an SOS button that could cut through noise in seconds. Using Bubble.io for the front end and Xano for the back end, the team delivered a functional MVP in weeks, not months, then layered in custom logic to handle nested work zones and real-time alerts.

HOW WE GOT THERE

Early mock-ups brought the concept to life for stakeholders, winning the green light to proceed. Rapid prototyping cycles turned feedback from pit supervisors into streamlined workflows, while continuous testing in dust-choked, low-signal environments proved the system’s resilience. A privacy-first data model logged presence events without constant location pings, easing union concerns. When simulated emergencies showed alerts hitting the right contacts in under ten seconds, confidence soared and pilot deployments were secured across multiple mine sites.

"We knew the mining industry needed a smarter way to keep people safe, but we also knew we had only one shot to prove it worked. Mayfly helped us turn a whiteboard sketch into a live system that crews actually trust. Seeing supervisors rely on AtSite during a real emergency drill was the moment we realised we’d changed the game."

INSIGHTS

AtSite’s journey underscores three big ideas: purpose-built simplicity can outclass legacy complexity, speed of delivery can be a competitive moat and trust is earned when technology serves people as much as process. By focusing on the single moment that matters—knowing who is inside a hazard zone right now—the platform strips away admin noise and frees crews to do their jobs safely. Its low-code foundation lets new features roll out at the pace of regulatory change, while transparent data practices reassure workers that safety, not surveillance, is the goal. The result is an original blend of rapid innovation and human-centred design that turns compliance into confidence and transforms a once-onerous chore into an invisible assurance.
