HOSPITALITY

Mucudu

From stalled venture to 3,000 users and ten national brand partnerships.

A hospitality rewards platform that had lost momentum found it again. Mayfly rebuilt the commercial foundations, wrapped loyalty, fee-free payments and venue discovery into one product, and took it to market.

the problem

Mucudu's $400K earlier build had stalled before Mayfly stepped in.

56% of practitioners report patient wait times of three months or more

Maintenance costs were spiralling, the product offered only a venue directory and a gift feature, and the lack of integrated payments made onboarding venues, and convincing investors, nearly impossible.

10+ hours a week lost to writing clinical reports

$400K spent on a build that could not scale. Years lost in development limbo while competitors moved ahead.

The insight

Zero-cost transactions change the maths.

Venues would only adopt if the payment flow cost them nothing. A custom gateway built to integrate with leading POS systems eliminated middle-man fees, enabling true zero-cost transactions for customer and venue alike.

opportunity

Rebuild around what regulars value.

the approach

We scrapped the legacy codebase and started fresh, running user-story workshops to re-centre the product on instant rewards, friction-free checkout and social sharing.

strategy & venture design

Strategy & Venture Design: We rebuilt the product around what patrons and venue owners genuinely use, not a feature list.

go-to-market

Go-to-Market: High-fidelity prototypes let James pitch pilot venues and marquee brand partners before production code shipped.

Product strategy

Designed for the thumb, tested in service.

Thumb-reach navigation, one-tap tab sharing and QR-based checkout were shaped by feedback from bartenders and patrons, then stress-tested in live service so the near-zero-fee flow held up on a busy night.

Differentiation

Backed with real conviction.

Mayfly's own $50K investment signalled confidence to external investors and opened doors to strategic brand tie-ins. That skin in the game is the difference between a vendor and a partner aligned to the outcome.

Inside the project

A night out, rewarded in a single tap.

The outcome

From a stalled venture to 3,000+ users within weeks.

25%  more clients served by psychologists using it.

More than 10 national brand partnerships secured. On launch night 50 users signed up organically; within weeks the count passed 3,000, validating the new direction.

Your turn

The same first step Virtuosa took.

If you are an industry expert with a high-potential problem worth solving, the move is the one Lisa made: validate it before you build. You bring the domain knowledge. Mayfly brings the validation, the product, and the build. From $15K. Early ideas welcome.
